Job Summary:

Performs in the capacity of an instructional designer with duties spanning planning and analyzing visual designing structuring implementing and evaluating eLearning content. Ensures the delivery of a solid learning experience based on learner needs and desired learning objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Incumbent analyzes, designs, develops, implements, and evaluates (ADDIE) learning and development programs, curriculums, and courses that are delivered by live instructors/trainers in person or virtually, via digital learning platforms, or through a combination of instructor and virtual delivery. 

-  Designs professional development and instructional products that adhere to the principles of adult learning, aligning professional learning standards, and cover a wide range of topics.

-  Provides information or guidance regarding online content delivery system requirements, curriculum and performance standards, and instructional materials.

-  Creates engaging learning activities, course content, and interactive products using proven instructional design principles and research based learning theory.

-  Creates storyboards, write scripts, and direct high quality, polished, creative, and visually attractive learning materials.

-  Creates supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role-plays, games, etc.) bringing learning content to life for the learner.

-  Defines learning objectives and identify appropriate instructional design strategies 

-  Performs multiple, varying, and complex assignments under the minimal direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional. May act as a contributing specialist on large work activities or as a project manager or team leader for large projects/programs/activities. 

-  Applies experience and comprehensive knowledge of instructional design and training evaluation, methods, and principles to plan and conduct functional activities for projects/programs. Assignments frequently require knowledge and experience working across functional and/or organizational lines.

-  Applies expertise in instructional design to design and develop new or revised leadership and learning programs, courses, and other learning solutions to develop the leadership capabilities and career potential of participants, from associates through executives through instructor-led or virtual delivery, digital learning platforms, or through a combination of instructor and virtual delivery. This work includes needs assessment, design, development, evaluation, and redesign as needed.

-  Efficiently and effectively engages and collaborates with colleagues, subject matter experts, and line of business and staff office stakeholders during planning and execution to optimize progress and results. Schedules, plans, and facilitates virtual and in-person meetings. 

-  Ensures work products provide high-quality learning experiences and fulfill customer goals and requirements. 

-  Acts as a performance consultant, focusing on business goals, performance outcomes or accomplishments and identifies performance gaps, potential causes, and proposes solutions. 

-  Troubleshoots problems, develops smart solutions, and provides assistance to others as needed. 

-  Develops new and/or innovative approaches where applicable and needed, staying mindful of context for implementation and potential for success.

-  Performs under the direction and leadership of the Director of Learning and Organizational Development. 

-  Serves as a classroom instructor/facilitator for training programs developed.

Performs other related duties as assigned.


A total of six years experience consisting of the following:

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:  Three years of responsible experience in non-routine work which enabled the applicant to gain a good general understanding of the systems, methods and administrative machinery for accomplishing work; the ability to analyze problems, apply sound judgment in assessing practical implications of alternative solutions and resolving the problems presented; and the ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing.


SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE:  1 year of academic study above the high school level may be substituted for 6 months of experience, up to a maximum of 3 years for a 
4-year bachelor's degree.


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Three years of progressively responsible, substantive experience in the fields of organization development, training, and leadership development. Specifically, individual and work team development; organization development; curriculum design and delivery, program development and evaluation; leadership development; and facilitating organizational change.
