The Global Learning & Development Instructional Designer is responsible for designing and developing companywide learning solutions and supporting training initiatives to improve the capability of individuals, teams, and the organization. The Instructional Designer will conduct gap assessments, apply creative approaches and instructional methodologies while developing content design, and offer suggestions for improving Altair’s training strategy. They must have a detailed working knowledge of adult learning principles with a specific focus on corporate training and organizational development. They will develop training programs and learning materials using various tools to develop instructor-led (ILT and VILT) and online learning.


  • Responsible for supporting the creation of Curriculum and training collateral, which can include synchronous and asynchronous eLearning, classroom curriculum, job aids, and performance support tools
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the training program, make recommendations for improvements, and create a learning design plan for team members
  • Develop training materials that will support the design plan and improve team member learning
  • Implement course evaluations using Kirkpatrick’s methodology
  • Understanding of AGILE instructional design approach
  • Knowledge of LMS administration
  • Familiarity with using content provider collateral and HCM LMS platform integration
  • Review current offerings and organize material within the Learning Management System and relevant SharePoint sites
  • Evaluate the LMS infrastructure and make recommendations for greater efficiency (Architecture, Reporting, API integrations)



  • 2-3 years of experience developing corporate training solutions
  • 2-3 years of expertise in content development from conception to delivery 
  • Mastery of eLearning software (Adobe Captivate, Articulate360, Camtasia, etc.)
  • Proficient with image editing (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
  • Strong writing and layout skills to compose design documents, job tools, workbooks, presentations/videos, and learning assessments
  • Ability to engage and effectively communicate processes and concepts and adapt to individual learning styles
  • Strong project management skills; able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team; must be a self-starter
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong communicator; both verbal and written; strong writing skills
  • Ability and flexibility to travel independently, as required by the Company

Team member must demonstrate knowledge of and support Company vision and value statements, policies and procedures, privacy, security, and confidentiality standards, and code of ethical behavior.
